Hi, I’m Haleem!
Born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh, I was always surrounded by amazing Bangladeshi cuisine where ever I went. My mother and grandmothers were also some of the best home cooks I know, and anyone who has had their cooking would often say the same! I’ve always loved watching them cook and picking up tips and tricks I still follow to this day.
I myself started cooking at a very young age, probably when I was about five years old. I remember Ammu would let me make desserts for guests as early as elementary school because she loved what I created. Back then though, I only cared about cooking international cuisine and didn’t bother to learn any Bangladeshi recipes. Afterall, I had my mom for that.
This caused me some grief when I moved to Texas alone. All I craved was the comfort of the food I grew up with, but anyone who has ever asked their deshi family for recipes knows how hard it can be to actually get one. So, in the last few years I have been recreating my favorite dishes from back home, and I am so excited to share them with you! Here you will also find other recipes inspired by my travels, and my time living in Houston TX, one of the best food cities in America!
I truly hope you love these recipes as much as I do. Thank you so much for being here!
